Admissions Overview

At Ski & Snowboard Club Vail, it’s important that athletes are placed in the program that best matches their stage of development. When athletes train in an environment aligned with their current skills, experience, and readiness, they are better able to build confidence, develop proper technique, and continue progressing at a healthy pace.

Our goal is to create a training environment where athletes can grow and improve in a safe, positive, and encouraging atmosphere. By thoughtfully placing athletes in programs that fit their individual development, we are able to support long-term improvement while prioritizing safety, enjoyment, and overall well-being.

To ensure proper placement, SSCV follows a structured admissions process that allows our coaching staff to evaluate each athlete and determine the program that will best support their continued growth and success.

Admissions Steps

Step 1: New Inquiry Form

Complete the SSCV New Inquiry Form. This short questionnaire introduces your athlete to our team and allows us to connect you with the appropriate staff member for next steps.

Step 2: Video Review

Families will be asked to submit recent video of their athlete performing their sport. Videos can be submitted through the above inquiry form or by emailing them to admissions@skiclubvail.org.

  • Alpine athletes should include both GS and SL whenever possible.
  • Freeski and Snowboard athletes may also submit an Instagram handle or YouTube channel.
Step 3: Team Visit

If appropriate, SSCV will schedule an on-snow trial and family interview.

If an on-snow trial with a full-time team is not the right step at that time, SSCV may communicate an admissions decision and recommend a part-time program pathway instead.

Step 4: Admissions Decision

Families will receive an admissions decision along with next steps for enrollment if applicable.

Admissions Timeline

We recommend beginning the full-time admissions process for the following season between December and early March. This timing allows athletes to be evaluated during the regular training season and gives families time to plan ahead.

Admissions remain open year-round and operate on a rolling basis, though programs may reach capacity as the season progresses.
