The U16 Alpine program is for qualified athletes born in 2010 or 2011 who want to pursue an aggressive racing program. As part of this year-round program, athletes begin their training in May preparing for the season ahead. The conditioning component generally meets three to four times per week depending on the time of year, as calendared. The on-snow training generally occurs five days a week beginning in late October, when conditions allow, as calendared.
Athletes on the U16 Teams train for their focus race series, the Sync Cup, with opportunities for out-of-division racing for qualified athletes. Travel to away races will be organized by staff, and athletes will be expected to travel as a team. Athletes can expect regular video access and review, as well as strength and conditioning screenings. An informational meeting will be conducted so that parents and athletes are able to meet their coaches, be introduced to the training and race calendar, and develop an understanding of their program. Families can expect regular communication.

As the oldest nonprofit in the Vail Valley, Ski & Snowboard Club Vail relies heavily on the generosity of hundreds of volunteers who give thousands of hours to help with competitions, fundraising and various club tasks and events. SSCV cannot exist without the incredible support and dedication of all our members and friends. The work and dedication of our volunteers is essential to SSCV’s ability to host events and offer quality programming at the most affordable cost possible.
For these reasons SSCV requires all families to complete a predetermined amount of volunteering through various duties/jobs during the period of June 1, 2023, through May 31, 2024. There are numerous opportunities both on and off the snow throughout the year. Click here or on the “Volunteer Requirements” button below for the current volunteer point requirements by program. The number of points required per family is based upon the athlete’s program (if your family has multiple athletes, your requirement will be that of the program with the highst number of points). Your volunteer point family balance (established after registration) and sign-ups for volunteer opportunities are accessed via your MySSCV account.
For more information on your volunteer requirement, point balances and on-snow volunteer opportunities, please contact SSCV Club Manager Land Collioure Le Coq at llecoq@skiclubvail.org. For more information about off-snow volunteer activities, please contact Development & Events Manager Liz Filipowicz at lfilipowicz@skiclubvail.org.
Please note that failure to meet your obligation could result in an re-evaluation of your family’s fit with the program and SSCV’s culture of volunteerism.
